We are an affiliate chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA), the nation’s leading organization representing people with hearing loss. According to the National Center for Health Statistics 48 million (20 percent) Americans have some degree of hearing loss making it a public health issue third in line after heart disease and arthritis.
The mission of HLAA is to open the world of communication to people with hearing loss by providing information, education, support and advocacy.
HLAA provides assistance and resources for people with hearing loss and their families to learn how to adjust to living with hearing loss. HLAA is working to eradicate the stigma associated with hearing loss and raise public awareness about the need for prevention, treatment, and regular hearing screenings throughout life.
It is the goal of the City of Orange Chapter to aid the diverse group of people with hearing loss in Orange County. We welcome college and working-age adults as well as the elderly and those who have children with hearing loss. The hearing loss community, and Orange County, is extremely diverse, and we hope to serve this varied population.
