June Recap

We hope you’re having a fabulous 4th of July weekend as we take a summer break from our regularly scheduled meetings.

June recap:

At the beginning of the month we had the Walk 4 Hearing in Long Beach.

The Hearing Loss Association of America held its Walk 4 Hearing in Long Beach on June 6th. $56,488.00 was raised toward the overall Walk 4 Hearing effort.

Our chapter was well represented. We raised nearly $1,300 and connected with friends old and new.

The chapter ended up raising $1,690.00 for the Long Beach Walk 4 Hearing with representatives from our chapter also volunteering on the day of the Walk.

We thank the local and national sponsors who made the Long Beach Walk 4 Hearing possible.

Toward the end of the month, some of us made it to the HLAA National Convention in St. Louis. A fun and educational week was had by all.

Exhibit hall sponsors

Many exhibitors and sponsors had displays at the exhibit hall, allowing visitors to learn about current and in-development technology to help people with hearing loss.

California was well represented at the convention. A couple of our friends from LA, Georgia Fleischer and Nanci Linke-Ellis, were honored with awards from the national HLAA organization for their advocacy efforts.

Marla Zina Rachel

Chairpersons had a special reception Thursday night. Our own Marla and Rachel had a great time with President of the HLAA California board, Zina Jawadi (left).

Overall June was a pretty busy month. We’ll be kicking back and relaxing through July, but stay tuned for announcements about fun to come in August!
